About Us

French Language and Culture

The Alliance Française is a unique worldwide organisation, established to promote French language and culture. It was founded in 1883 (yes, 130 years ago and still going stronger than ever!), in Paris as a national association to promote the French language around the world under the guidance of Pierre Foncin and Ambassador Paul Cambon. The Paris Alliance was created the following year by a board of directors featuring famous figures such as Jules Verne (author), Louis Pasteur (chemist and biologist) and Ferdinand de Lesseps (diplomat). Our 30 Alliance Françaises in Australia are part of an international network of 1,040 in 136 countries: the French learning destination of more than 500,000 students worldwide!

Being part of the Alliance Française de Wagga Wagga connects you to this proud tradition as well as to our own passion for bringing French language classes and cultural activities to the Wagga community since 1972.

We are your French base here in Wagga and we welcome Aussie francophiles and French expats alike.

Annual highlights include: Bastille Day celebrations, French Film Festival, Beaujolais Nouveau festivities.

Regular activities include: French Conversation (1st Friday & 3rd Saturday of the month), French Book Club, and Social Activities.

Classes: all levels, adults and juniors, four terms per year.

French: Love it! Live it! Learn it!
